New Director Invite 2024

20th September 2024

Dear Member

First Tech Credit Union is currently seeking new energetic members to join the volunteer Board of Directors. As one of Ireland’s largest credit unions providing financial services to the ICT sector, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of the credit union whilst gaining valuable professional experience. First Tech Credit Union is a not-for-profit organisation founded on the principles of co-operation, equality, diversity, inclusion and mutual support.

We are now looking for 5 new Directors to join the Board of First Tech Credit Union and 1 new Director to join the Board Oversight Committee. Candidates will ideally, but not necessarily, have previous Board experience, or a qualification in accountancy, business, risk, marketing or compliance. All credit union members over 18 are eligible to apply, and no previous Board experience is required.

As a Director, you will assist the Board in developing strategic plans and policies, making business decisions, thus ensuring that your Credit Union continues to achieve business goals, whist acting in the best interests of all members. You’ll also gain valuable experience operating at Board level in a regulated financial institution. Please note that as a volunteer Director you can expect to devote an average of 6 hours per month to your role. This time commitment is typically split reviewing Board papers and attending meetings. The majority of Board Meetings are organised outside of normal business hours with most taking place virtually. Successful applicants will be provided with training and reasonable expenses incurred are reimbursed.

If this opportunity appeals to you and you are interested in gaining great exposure to Board level operations, working with like-minded individuals and at the same time supporting your own credit union, please send an e-mail to nominations@firsttech.ie, no later than Monday 7th October, 2024 confirming your interest. Please include your First Tech account number, a short summary profile which outlines your experience and a copy of your Curriculum Vitae. Finally, please let us know in your application whether you would like to be considered for the position of Board Director and / or the Board Oversight Committee.

First Tech Credit Union as an equal opportunities’ employer, is committed to recognising the value of diversity and inclusion amongst its staff and Board members and has an ambition to both secure ethnic minority representation and a minimum of 33% female membership on our Board. All vacancies are subject to the applicant meeting the requirements of Section 53 of the Credit Union Act 1997 (as amended) and applicable Fitness and Probity standards required by the Central Bank of Ireland.

Yours Sincerely,

Barry Kilcline

Director and Chair of the Nominations Committee
