A detailed issue log was created to measure against WCAG 2.1 standards. These issues were presented to the development team who are amending these issues and bringing the website in to WCAG 2.1 AA compliance.

  • ‘This image lacks any alt attribute. All images must provide a text alternative’ – all images across the website will have unique descriptive alternative text.
  • ‘The page does not begin with a level-1 heading. Each page should include a primary heading that identifies its main purpose.’ – all pages across the website are being worked on to include this.
  • ‘Headings are not properly nested. Heading levels must follow a logical hierarchy without skipping levels.’ – All pages are being reviewed to ensure they have a correct and sequential heading hierarchy.
  • ‘This input field is missing an autocomplete attribute. It must have one if it is collecting information about the user’ – all fields collecting information are being reviewed.

The contrast ratio of this element to its background should be at least 4.5:1’ – All text across the website will be reviewed to ensure colour contrast ratio of 4.5:1 is met. Headings along with any graphical elements, buttons and links will also meet 3:1 colour contrast ratio.
  • ‘Link label does not fully convey the purpose of the link in context’ – all labels such as ‘read more’, or ‘click here’ will have more unique and descriptive labelling where possible. Additionally extra contextual text will be provided before article links.
  • ‘This form control does not have a programmatically determinable label. Inputs, selects, and textareas must be associated with a visible or ARIA label.’ – All form controls are under review to ensure the accurate labelling is implemented.
  • ‘This native element overrides its implicit role incorrectly. Native semantics must not be replaced with an incompatible ARIA role.’ – All graphical elements e.g. icons, buttons and links are currently being worked on to include the correct labelling, name, role and value.
  • Third-party content – there are areas of our website controlled by third-party companies, such as the cookies/chatbot. These are not funded by, developed, or controlled by First Tech Credit Union, but work is in progress to resolve as many issues related to these areas as feasibly possible.
